So always try to put your links on sites with a high PR through forum postings, blogging and article writing.

• Create Back links On Sites That Have Related Content. Search engine spiders are smart enough to pick up links that are “planted” where they have no significance. Links placed on unrelated sites, like a text link for a cosmetics site on a sports news site, will generally be ignored. So the key is to tie up with people who are into a similar business.

• Put Your Keywords In Your Text Links. The text that you put on your links is used by search engines to determine the content of your website. Therefore, putting in keywords specifying what you are all about will get you higher search engine rankings when that keyword is searched for.

Some unscrupulous webmasters and internet marketers tend to device ways and techniques to trick the SE to rank their low quality websites undeservingly high. These techniques of search engine optimsaton (SEO) are referred to as black hat. Such spammy techniques are abhorred by SEs; this simply because they interfere with the SE’s business of delivering quality information on search queries. But every so often a black hat is devised that’s effective in fooling SEs for some time before it is discovered and clamped down on.

To stay true to their purpose of providing high quality search results for a search term inspite of black hats, SEs have introduced various quality scores to vet the quality of a webpage. Page Rank is such a score. It is based on a science paper by Sergy Brin and Larry Page (from where the term page rank comes from) both founders of Google Inc, the leading SE company.

Craig Silverstein of Google says of PageRank, “(Its) Google’s system for ranking webpage (and) is about relevance. It relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a link from Page A to Page B as a vote by Page A for Page B. But Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyses the pages that cast the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weight more heavily and help to make the other page “important”. Important, high quality sites receive a higher Page Rank, which Google remembers each time it conducts a search”

In essence, the higher a web pages Page Rank (PR) the higher in the natural SE listing the page is placed. You acquire higher PR by getting other websites to link to you website. If you can get high PR websites to link to your website the better your quality score. The interpretation is if such important high PR sites are linking to you site then it must be very important. Consequently you could be placed in that coveted Google Golden Triangle.

Those of you that pay attention to the Google Page Rank are still waiting for another Google update. It’s been almost 90 days since the last Google update and word around the web is that Google should be doing another mass update in August.

Many of you built new sites in the beginning of 2007 and still have no Google page rank after all the hard work you put into building out quality back links, optimizing and adding new pages, and every other tedious detail involved with properly optimizing your site for the engines.

Well the word is that the wait is almost over. Google will be updating all its servers and handing out grades in the near future. All the speculation about what will work and won’t work for the best results in your sites placement are about to show themselves.

Once the Google page rank update starts, it will take a couple of weeks to complete so you will probably see some fluctuation in your page rank on different pages of your site for a while but things will settle down and your new page rank will be good until the next update.

Will your Google page rank go up or down on the next massive Google update, only time will tell. If you have done all the work required to rank well, then you will mostly be rewarded a pretty reasonable Google page rank and the other search engine will follow right behind the master.
