1. Use web browser protection

If you use a credit card you can contest transactions before you pay your monthly statement. Frequent online shoppers should consider setting up a separate credit card with a low limit, so that if their details do get stolen, a thief will be limited in the amount of money they can charge to the card.

8. Don’t give out too many details

Online retailers should only require your basic contact details (for example, name, billing address and contact number) and card details in order to process a credit/debit card payment. If you are concerned that a retailer is requesting too much information, contact them by phone to find out why they need so much information, how they plan to use it and if they have a privacy policy to protect you.

9. Keep records of the transaction

Make sure you print and save records of any online transactions, including the product description, price and the receipt of payment. If the site turns out to be fraudulent, you’ll need this information to advise the relevant authorities in order to try to get your money back.

Found this little guy on a Compaq that came in to the shop today. There are 3 programs on the desktop error cleaner, privay protector, spyware & malware protection. Seems from what I have read it is an SDbot variant and you need to download SDfix

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

* Restart your computer
* After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
* Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
* Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press “Enter”.
* Choose your usual account.
* Open the extracted folder and double click “RunThis.bat” to start the script.
* Type “Y” to begin the script.
* It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
* Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
* Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
* When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display “Finished”, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
* Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and attach the contents of the results file “Report.txt”

Then run an online antivirus

I had an older DELL Dimension 4600c come in today. I have come to know that the HS2 clip shown here

comes loose and causes the heatsink from the north bridge to come loose and give you a chipset error message “Alert! Chipset heatsink not detected. System Halted”

How do you fix this issue?

and mix a tiny amount (instructions) on top of the northbridge shown here

set the heatsink on top of the northbridge and allow the Themal Adhesive to bond. FYI, this is a PERMANENT BOND and will not come loose anytime soon. Just to be on the safe side you might set something heavy on top of the heatsink, just to make sure it is nice and snug. Let it sit for 24 hours before trying to apply the HS2 clasp and heatsink fasteners. The heatsink makes a circuit and tells the motherboard BIOS the heatsink is attached by the metal fasterner on the heatsink. The possibility of the HS2 clasp coming loose from the fastener is stil great and since the connection is needed for the system halt not to occur, we need to complete the circuit. Here we can do 2 things; we can bend the fastener on the heatsink so it completes the circuit but applies little presure to the HS2 or we can run a single copper wire from HS2 to HS1 either of which will work.
