More info needed. what is your sound-card and power-supply (make and model). sounds like a driver problem. remove both drivers, install video first, followed by sound. make sure both are the newest drivers. Sometimes a clean instillation of windows is the best way, if viable. hope it helps.

If you have installed the correct driver from the CD supplied, there could a conflict in IRQ where competitive use of the limited IRQ might have prevent the sound from proper operation.

Try click Start> Run and in the dropdown box, enter “devmgmt.msc”(without quotes) and click ok. In the Device Manager menu, select View then “resouces by type”, then IRQ, find the audio driver, something like high definition audio. Doubleclick it and in the new screen and the bottom dropdown box, disable this device. It will uninstall the driver. Now goto the View menu and select “Device by type”. In the new screen, one should see the System Device expanded and a red X for the Audio device.
doubleclick it and proceed to install back the driver. Check the Resouce by type to ensure that the drivers are now installed.

If the above won’t help, the driver in the computer folder could have been corrupted. In this case, one would have to have to leave the device uninstalled, restart the computer and do not install the driver when prompted during startup and reinstall the driver using the CD.

Reseat the sound card, you may have accidentally loosened it when you installed the video card.
