How do I get rid of a pop box that says my windows registry is corrupt?

These boxes pop up all of the time saying that my windows registry is corrupt and needs immediate attention.I am supposed to go to a certain website and download a file to fix it, but first I have to pay $39.95, with no guarantee that the problem will be fixed.

    It’s adware. The site infects your computer in order to get you to pay for their removal software. Pretty dumb, huh?

    Just close the window and DO NOT click on that ad. Get a pop up blocker like the google tool bar.

    Use firefox as your browser. Get yahoo anti-spyware & clean your PC if you have spyware in your system.

    The popup is adware. If your ISP is comcast or someone like that it could be coming from them, or from some other source, for instance a website you might have visited that has ‘free’ things. This kind of stuff is considered to be “bad” and will be removed by anti-spyware programs like Windows Defender from microsoft.com, AdAware Personal SE from lavasoftusa.com or Spybot from spybot.com. These programs are all free. Good luck!

    Popup blockers do not stop this type of popup. This is a program installed on your computer. It is called “Extorsions Ware”. Parts of these programs are are in hidden files on the computer. Running AV/AS programs in normal mode do not find and remove these part. They then download and restart the adware as soon as you finish.

    Go here an follow this procedure. It will open these areas. Use the programs she lists for best results.

    From now on, read every EULA. These programs are usually listed in them saying it will be put on your computer.

    Pop us are sign of spyware.
    Goto and run the free version to find and remove it.
    Here are a few others that I use that are free.

    adaware se>
    a-squared Free>
    X -Cleaner Micro Edition scan

    Spywareguard too.

    hi, i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. which is most powerful in popup blocking

    besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

    firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
