GO! Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 SLACR G0 STEPPING GO!
The Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 is an amazing chip, especially if you are lucky enough to own the G0 stepping version of it. The G0 stepping is the more efficient version of the processor and allows users to overclock it’s stock speed of 2.4 Ghz to an amazing 3.6 Ghz on Air. I put this processor together with a GA-P35-DS3L MOTHERBOARD from GIGABYTE, Some GSKILL RAM and an ANTEC NINE HUNDRED. This build has turned into a Dream Machine, I have never had a nicer computer. Running Windows XP Pro 32 bit, Vista Ultimate 32 bit, and Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit, like it was nothing.
The true strength of the SLACR chip revision is in it’s video rendering, I noticed unbelievable performance from the G0 stepping in Adobe Premiere Pro and even opening Photoshop. Premiere uses the full power of Quad Core technology and renders in about a quarter of the time as a single core.
