I am currently running Windows Vista Home Premium and i have an installation disc for Windows Vista Ultimate. I want to know if upgrading my PC with that disc will require me to format my computer. I want to upgrade my version of Vista, but I won’t if i have to format my computer.

no, normally with windows you can choose an upgrade option which will just upgrade and not reformat the hard drive. Leaving all your files and settings.

i would reformat anyway, your putting an operating system on top of another.

No need to format drives. If the upgrade option is available you can go ahead. I have done this earlier.
Your files will be in the same folders where they were. Dont select fresh installation when installing.
